The kids and I went the NHMS this weekend for a tour. Bette was wonderful and gave us a great tour of the facility. They were racing go-garts and believe it or not, some of these little vehicles hit 137 mph! While we were there, we met up with the White Mountain chapter of the BMW Car Club. They were offering their driving school which was nothing like I’ve ever seen. People bring their own cars and basically learn how to stay in control. For instance, they taught drivers how to get their car out of a spin on wet pavement. I was brought in one of the cars for a sample lesson. I didn’t do the driving! The instructor was unbelievable. The group offers classes for adults and for new teen drivers. You may want to check out their website and consider it. http://www.wmc-bmwcca.org/

I recently climbed Mt. Monadnock in Rindge, New Hampshire. I have to be honest, I’ve never climbed to the top of any mountain before. I went with my two kids, my brother, his girlfriend and her kids. We had a blast! It was an incredibly feeling reaching the top. Absolute success and absolute exhaustion! I wouldn’t recommend it for a really young children, though. Lots of rocks and steep climbs. I can’t wait to do it again, next year!

I can’t believe this is the children’s last full week of vacation! Where did summer go? It got off to such a slow start! We started school shopping. Not so fun anymore! I used to be able to pick everything out. Now they choose the outfits and I look at the pricetags!

I dropped my eleven year old son off at summer camp last Saturday. He is away for a week at Camp Mi-Te-Na. It’s through the YMCA. Since this is his second year going, I thought it would be a breeze saying good-bye. UGH!! I CRIED! Of course, he never saw a tear. We laughed and joked as I walked away from his cabin, but after I got into the car, forget it! I’m better now. Only because I know in three days I’ll be driving up there to get him.
With that in mind, I can’t imagine how Moms and Dads did it years ago. Sending their children off to summer camp for a week or more. They were lucky if they got as much as a post card. These days it’s different. I log on to the web site every day and I’m able to see pictures of my son. A photographer takes pictures every day and then uploads them. I know every day what he was doing and if he changed his clothes! (he didn’t last year)

I’ve been taking every Friday off this summer, to spend time with the family. It’s been a great way to enjoy summer, without spending a bunch of money all in the same week. We’ve been to the beach a couple of times, which I truly enjoy. This Friday though, weather permitting, I think we are going to do something completely different. We’ll still go to the beach, but this will be a different trip. My kids want to see a sunrise! So, I’m thinking of setting the alarm for about 4 a.m., and heading to the ocean so they can experience a sunrise. I haven’t done this since one particular prom night, which I’d rather not get in to right now! Is it nuts to get up at 4 a.m. on my day off?

I recently talked about my son getting hit by the ball while playing baseball. It is completely frustrating and heart breaking as a Mom to watch your child get injured. One parent joked how they saw a bolt of blonde running towards the diamond. That of course, was me. But, when I got to the gate to go on to the field, I stopped dead in my tracks. What do I do? Should I run on to the field? Cradle my baby and tell him Mommy is here?! He’s almost as big as me, so picking him up and carrying him would have been difficult. But, I wanted so badly to take care of my injured son. He was down on the ground and his eye glasses were knocked off. What did I do? I quietly stood at the fence and watched from a distance as the coaches and ump checked my boy. Check his head! Check for blood! Luckily the field is right next to Elliot Hospital! Get him an ice pack! (these were the thoughts running through my mind) I did not go out on the field that evening. Someone else took care of my child. Why? Because my boy is almost 11 years old and his bruised pride and complete embarassment from Mom running out to help would have hurt more than the bump over his right eye.

So here I am, trying to figure out what to write on my blog page. Honestly, I never had a blog so this is something new to me.
The boss asked me to give them a picture to put on my blog page. Is there anything worse than having to pick out a picture of yourself to show to the world? I chose this one of me and my kids because I think it best represents my life.
I’m a full time working mom. I love it. For now, my Saturday’s are taken up with basketball and cheerleading. I am so proud of them! There is nothing cuter than seeing your child in a sports uniform. (especially if it’s a bit on the long side)
The winter sport’s season is almost over BUT baseball season starts in no time at all. Yes, my daughter plays, too!
